T n A do Cancun!

FRIDAY
After a slow start in JFK (a million curses) we arrrived in Cancun, waited in a customs line with anti-deodorant French people only to find out that my bag did not make the flight and they weren't sure where it was. Once we arrived at our sweet hotel we tried to find a swim suit for me at a mall down the way. There was a swim shop every other store but for a 3 1/2 month pregnant woman I was not enjoying shopping for a swim suit. So I was in a rather unpleasant mood and we decided to try walking back to the hotel. It hadn't seemed like much of a bus ride on the way there, but about half way home we realized that walking back in 90 degree and very humid weather was not the smartest idea. By the time we got to the hotel I had mascara running down my face, either from the tears or the humidity. It was a relief to find our friends Brad and Chanel had arrived while we were gone and also to hear that Chanel had brought her entire wardrobe to cover me til my bag arrived. We ate some yummy "Nachos Grande" for dinner and took a night swim involving chicken fights and all before we headed up to bed.

SATURDAY
Our first day we took a boat out to Isla Mujeres and rented scooters to drive around the island. We made Todd and Brad take a practice lap before we entrusted our 2 1/2 lives in their driving skills.

We then took a little boat out to some snorkling sites and saw a bunch of the same fish and coral again and again. We thought we were much more interesting to look at in our snorkling gear.

SUNDAY
Todd and Brad treated us to a morning at the spa where we both got an hour and half deep tissue massage. It was so great. Meanwhile the guys pumped some iron at the gym and unfortunately met up with us just in time to see the bill. For 2 moms of two crazy boys, it was much needed. Thanks Todd! Then we spent the rest of the day lounging around the pool reading books, napping, and checking out people. Brad even said at one point, "Yo Todd check out that guy's 8 pack over there!"
We had dinner at Ruth's Chris and all had the same delicious filets. Mmmm.

MONDAY
We went to a place called Xcarat, about and hour away. It was an eco park with underground rivers, snorkling, dolphin swimming, mayan ruins and more. Chanel and Brad went swimming with the dolphins for an hour while Todd and I fought off hungry iguanas wanting our Pringles. There was an awesome Mexican lunch served and then a really fun show in the evening which told about the Mayan/Mexican history. Really fun day.

It's hard to see, but Chanel has two dolphins behind her pushing. All of Chanel's wildest dreams came true at this moment.

TUESDAY
We took a 3 hour tour bus to Chichen Itza's incredible Mayan ruins. It's not worth describing because it would do no justice to how amazing it all was. It was blazing hot but we managed to hang around long enough to get some pictures.

Isn't Chanel so pretty? Not to mention Brad in the background.

We also went to this cool underground water hole with fresh spring water. We played in there for a little while before getting back onto the bus back to Cancun. It was brought to my attention after the fact that a pregnant lady probably should not be jumping off 30 foot ledges. But so fun!

WEDNESDAY
Another travel disaster. They wanted us to show up 3 hours prior to take off so when we did show up at that time we were then told that the plane would have an additional 3 hour delay. So we spent our day from 10am to 4pm in the Cancun airport. We finally arrived at Todd's parent's home around 11pm. It was a long day but at least my bag made it this time! We had the best time in Cancun and an even better time with Brad and Chanel.

I could not control my laughing at your story about the dolphins and the feeding of Pringles to those two iguanas. It's is a good thing that we didn't stick around to much longer after the dolphin activity because those iguanas probably had a ton of gas after all of those chips. Oh, and to correct you on my wildest dreams come true. I would have to say that if I could have picked off all of that dead and hanging skin off of that iguana that would have been a dream. I have a picking fettish. I think that that is a girl thing. Thanks for a great trip! We are ready for trip numero dos already.
Love you Ash-
