In our home we have very early risers, so on Sunday evening before bed we told our boys that the new rule is that they have to stay in their bed until 7:30 even if they woke up before then that they would just have to lay there until the clock lined up with the marks I drew on it.
So of course Toby was totally into it while Ben couldn't care less. Much to our happiness it worked and they both weren't up until that magic time! Tuesday was even later and you better believe how much we praised Toby for staying in his bed for so long.
So this morning, bound and determined to beat his record and get even more praise, Toby stayed in his bed until 8:14. When he came out to join us, we noticed that he had a big wet discoloration to his pajamas and with a smug little look he informed us that in his efforts to stay in bed the longest he lay there and peed on himself. Just for the record, Toby has been potty trained since the age of 2, never in pull ups at night or anything. He is not a bed wetter. So the fact that he consciously lay in his bed awake and peed to achieve a new personal record is pretty dang cool and scary. I feel sorry for anyone in his path. The kid cannot be stopped.

Nice work Toby. So what's the reward?
That's hilarious...you're a stud Toby!
You can't let a little thing like pee and poo stop you. Next thing you know, he'll be following in that crazy astronaut woman's foot steps ...wearing diaper so he doesn't have to stop what he's doing to go to the bathroom.
This story is amazing. Good luck with that kind of determination when the Tobster gets to be a teenager. Let's just hope he uses his powers for good! :)
I am speechless.
Remarkable! I've retold this story several times already.
Life is not a race, Toby.
Since your friends don't know my friends anymore (other than old friends) I can post that I remember doing the same thing (when I was older than two- but won't say how old). I even put on an act with my mom as though I was ashamed, but really I was too lazy to get up.
...nah, I'm not going to sign in. You'll just have to wonder who this comment is from.
I'm pretty sure that was you Peter.
Good call Ashley, you nailed it. I didn't know Peter had left a comment and I was reading your post thinking... hmmmm... this sounds a bit like my husband. Not for competitive reasons but lazy reasons! I think he was like 9 or something. What a scam artist.
Toby, way to go champ. Beat your records.
Ash, isn't it worth it to change the sheets? You get a couple extra hours of sleep and/or mommy time!
